Piet Cornelies Mondrian (1872-1944) is a Dutch painter, the artist behind the De Stijl movement and one of the founders of non-figurative painting. He has a great influence on architecture and design in later generations. Mondrian is a pioneer of geometric abstract painting. He uses geometric figures as the basic elements of painting. He founded the “De Stijl” with Doesburg and others, and advocated his own art “Neo-Plasticism”.
